Our Vision

Welcome to Black Forest Primary School...

We are very proud of our school - the way it looks, the programmes we offer, the skills students learn, and the strong community involvement and the facilities that have been developed to support educational excellence.

School pride is a noticeable feature of our school. The buildings are well maintained and the spacious grounds spread through the inner city suburbia, dotted with native trees of significance, as well as aged olive trees that still produce fruit to be harvested and made into olive oil. The school garden is also a surprising feature that is valued by the community and visitors alike. A path snakes its way to a shaded oval area providing ample space for student activity. The school has recently commissioned a flexible four-classroom open-space area to being used as an expressive arts facility that will enhance the hall, well resourced library and computer suite that offer alternative learning centres.

Being a large school of approximately 530 - 550 students we are able to offer a variety of programmes and teacher expertise to benefit student learning. Student programmes include:

  • Collaborative teaching units linking information technology, research stills and resource based learning.
  • Advanced technology resources supported by a co-ordinator.
  • Environmental education programmes that utilise the school garden and community connections.
  • Visual arts, where students display creativity whilst building a foundation of skills and techniques.
  • A wide variety of extra curricular sport and club choices.
  • Student well-being programmes that promote healthy life styles, and student leadership.

Our students perform well in academic learning where teachers and parents support each other to realise individual student potential.

Teachers effectively plan together and a reception to year seven curriculum plan has been developed in all core subject areas. Parents actively participate in curriculum delivery as they are informed, and have confidence with the educational pathways we provide. Our LaN data demonstrates successful learning in the basic skills of literary and numeracy - well above the state average.

We welcome your further exploration of our website and would be pleased to discuss aspects of our school with you. We strongly believe in the concept of a culture of service.
